The Southern Manitoba Railway is located in Manitoba, Canada in the Pembine Valley area. The line consisted of 145 miles of track extending from Elgin, Manitoba, to Morris, Manitoba where it interchanges with the Canadian National Railway (CN). Historically, the Southern Manitoba Railway's major commodities consisted of grain, grain products and flaxstraw.
Canadian National Railway built the Miami and Hartney subdivisions in 1904. The Southern Manitoba Railway assumed ownership and operation of the two subdivisions in 1999.
